Please read these before placing a booking.
These terms govern your hire of a thermal camera from Thermalyst. Thermalyst is a trading name of Ludic Projects Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. "We", "us" and "our" refer to Ludic Projects Ltd throughout. By completing a booking you agree to these terms.
When you submit a booking and payment is confirmed, a hire agreement is formed between you and Ludic Projects Ltd for the loan of one thermal camera unit and any accessories listed in your chosen tier. The camera remains our property at all times.
Your hire window begins on the day the camera is delivered to the address you provided and ends when the return parcel is scanned in at a parcel shop on the return journey. The standard hire window is 3 days. The hire window is not extended by any delay in your collecting or opening the parcel.
Extra days beyond the standard 3-day window are available at £10 per day, agreed in advance.
The tier price is charged in full at the time of booking via our payment provider, Stripe. We also place a £75 pre-authorisation hold on your card at the time of booking. This is not a charge — it is a temporary hold that is released automatically once the camera has been returned and inspected. The hold may take 5–7 business days to clear depending on your bank.
If you need to keep the camera beyond your hire window, you must contact us at hello@thermalyst.com before the window closes. Extensions are subject to availability and charged at £10 per additional day. We reserve the right to decline an extension if the camera is needed for another booking.
You must return the camera using the prepaid label included with Standard and Full Report hires, or at your own cost for Basic hires, by dropping it at a parcel shop before your hire window closes. Please obtain and keep a drop-off receipt as proof of return. The camera must be repacked securely in the original case.
If the camera is not scanned in at a parcel shop by the end of your hire window and no extension has been agreed, we will charge £10 per day for each additional day, up to the value of the deposit hold. We will always contact you before capturing any deposit charge.
Both outbound and return delivery legs are insured against loss or damage in transit. If the camera is damaged or lost while in your care (between delivery and drop-off), you are liable up to the value of the £75 deposit hold. We will assess any damage on return and contact you before capturing any amount. We will not charge for fair wear or minor scuffs consistent with careful use.
If the camera is not returned and no extension or purchase arrangement has been agreed, we reserve the right to claim the full replacement value of the camera, which is £169. The hire fee you paid and the £75 deposit hold will be offset against this sum. For example, if you hired on the Standard tier (£39) and do not return the camera, we will retain the £75 deposit and may pursue a further claim of £55 (£169 − £39 hire fee − £75 deposit = £55 outstanding).
We will always contact you before taking any action and will give you a reasonable opportunity to arrange the return.
You may cancel or reschedule your booking free of charge up to 48 hours before your delivery date. To cancel or reschedule, email hello@thermalyst.com. Cancellations inside the 48-hour window will be refunded at our discretion — if the camera has already been dispatched, we may deduct our outbound postage cost.
We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the camera or its findings, including the cost of any home repairs or works you choose to undertake based on what you observe. The camera is a diagnostic tool; it does not constitute a professional survey.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking applies to that booking.
